The Resident Naturalists are passionate about the environment, and their role is to educate and inspire our guests about the local flora and fauna, as well as to conduct outdoor activities.
Guests at Shangri-La Rasa Ria, Kota Kinabalu, will be able to participate in guided nature walks and wildlife spotting excursions led by our Resident Naturalists. Our Resident Naturalist will take you on an adventure through the reserve's surrounding forests, sharing their knowledge about local plants, animals, and ecosystems. They will also provide assistance to guests in identifying local flora and fauna, including birds, insects, and reptiles.
In addition to leading tours, our Resident Naturalists also conduct educational talks and workshops. They cover topics such as local culture and wildlife awareness and protection, helping guests gain a deeper understanding of the importance of conservation and sustainability.

A Rasa Ria Reserve Resident Naturalist for more than 10 years. Previous experiences 5 years with UK Orangutan Appeal, 1 year with WWF Sabah based in Sandakan. Expertise and interest in exchanging ideas with people from diverse backgrounds and passionate about Birds & Primates.
Joined the Reserve as Sr. Animal Curator in 1st Sept 1998. Now as a Sr. Resident Naturalist. Has over 20 years involvement with Nature Conservation program at Rasa Ria and as well in Sabah. An Animal Curator at Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre Sepilok, Sandakan and passionate about Mammals, Primates & Birds.
