The Resident Naturalists are passionate about the environment, and their role is to educate and inspire our guests about the local flora and fauna, as well as to conduct outdoor activities.

Guests at Shangri-La Rasa Ria, Kota Kinabalu, will be able to participate in guided nature walks and wildlife spotting excursions led by our Resident Naturalists. Our Resident Naturalist will take you on an adventure through the reserve's surrounding forests, sharing their knowledge about local plants, animals, and ecosystems. They will also provide assistance to guests in identifying local flora and fauna, including birds, insects, and reptiles.

In addition to leading tours, our Resident Naturalists also conduct educational talks and workshops. They cover topics such as local culture and wildlife awareness and protection, helping guests gain a deeper understanding of the importance of conservation and sustainability.

The Resident Naturalist role is a critical part of our commitment to conservation and sustainability. They play an essential role in educating and inspiring our guests about the local environment and wildlife. We are proud to have such passionate and knowledgeable individuals as part of our team, and we look forward to sharing the beauty and biodiversity of our reserve with you.

With 7 years of experience within the hospitality industry, Cassy enjoys nature and finds true fulfillment in being surrounded by nature and takes pride in representing Sabah through her work in Rasa Ria Reserve. She enjoys birding and also coffee brewing outside of work.

A Rasa Ria Reserve Resident Naturalist for more than 10 years. Previous experiences 5 years with UK Orangutan Appeal, 1 year with WWF Sabah based in Sandakan. Expertise and interest in exchanging ideas with people from diverse backgrounds and passionate about Birds & Primates.

Joined the Reserve as Sr. Animal Curator in 1st Sept 1998. Now as a Sr. Ranger. Has over 20 years involvement with Nature Conservation program at Rasa Ria and as well in Sabah. An Animal Curator at Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre Sepilok, Sandakan and passionate about Mammals, Primates & Birds.

The Senior Manager of Rasa Ria Reserve with 19 years of experience is very passionate and dedicated. Melvin enjoys sharing information about our flora & fauce in the reserve to our guest, the local community and students. Off duty, his loves playing badminton and watching documentaries about flora, fauna and history.

Halim

Started his love for nature as a Nature Guide & a Naturalist in Kinabatangan & Danum Valley since 2007. He join the Rasa Ria Reserve team in 2022. Loves sharing his knowledge and gaining knowledge from his surroundings and the people he meets.

Started as in intern a year ago in Shangri-La Rasa Ria, Razimie is a resilient and enthusiatic member of Rasa Ria Reserve. He find joy in the beutiful nature surrounding the resort. He enjoys sports and fishing outside of work.
